Don't wait to place your first bet on T-strap pumps. Pointed toe, round toe, it doesn't matter, in the upcoming Sex and the City sequel, Miss Carrie Bradshaw loves them more than Mr. Big. But wait, there's more. In addition to her newfound affection for the T-strap pump, she also re-affirms her love for quite a few 80's shoe styles via a series of flashbacks. So we can't help but suggest taking your next fashion cues from what's now known as the "Disco Decade." Start saving for a pair of peep-toe booties, round toe spike heel pumps and maybe even a pair of high top sneakers (a bright color would be divine). You can reference Madonna, Cyndi Lauper or the Go-Go's looks circa 1980 for inspiration if necessary. As if direction from Sex in the City isn't enough to solidify the hold the 80's will have on fashion in 2010, consider that a slew of top fashion designers showed big hair bows, dark nail polish and lots of menswear inspired looks - all huge 80's looks - on the runway for Spring 2010.

So much so that there is an entire museum dedicated to shoes - The Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, Ontario. Bata celebrates both the style and function of shoes through history and has an impressive collection of over 10,000 pairs (even Imelda Marcos would be jealous!).

"On A Pedestal: From Renaissance Chopines to Baroque Heels," their newest exhibition is now open and runs until Sept. 20, 2010. The show focuses on the evolution of the high heel and showcases the chopine, a kind of platform mule that peaked in popularity in 16th-century Italy, and eventually translated into the high heel, which by the 17th-century was the preferred mode of elevation for women.
